The University Libraries strive to fulfill all the information needs of the University community. When material is not available in the UMass Lowell libraries or in our full text databases, UMass Lowell faculty, staff and students may request it from another library. To make this as easy as possible we will be launching a new service called Navigator.
By using this system, you may search the collections of our libraries while simultaneously searching the collections of our partner libraries in the Boston Library Consortium (BLC), including libraries world wide.
Results are prioritized by the availability so that the material that can be in your hand most quickly are listed first. Material that you can borrow immediately from the UMass Lowell Libraries will appear at the top of your results. (You will soon be able to place requests for material not available at UMass Lowell Libraries directly from this screen. For now, you must submit requests through ILLiad.)
Items in BLC libraries will appear next. BLC libraries will send requested material to our libraries as quickly as possible, often in just a few days for available books. Materials in other libraries in
The Massachusetts Virtual Catalog (MAVC) will still be available. Use this system to search and request material from Massachusetts public libraries as well as many college libraries. Items requested through the MAVC are usually delivered to UMass Lowell within a week.
